The NCAA Women’s Bowling Committee is requesting applications from interested individuals to serve as the NCAA Women’s Bowling Secretary-Rules Editor and National Coordinator of Officials. This position is the national interpreter for NCAA women’s bowling rules issues throughout the year and the NCAA’s commitment to improving the overall quality and consistency of officiating throughout women’s bowling. The new secretary-rules editor/national coordinator will shadow during the current secretary-rules editor/national coordinator’s final year (September 2026-August 2027). The effective start date for the official term is September 1, 2027. This position is an eight-year term. A stipend is paid during the official term.
Reports to: NCAA Women’s Bowling Committee and NCAA playing rules staff liaison.

Duties, Requirements and Responsibilities:
a. Serve as a nonvoting member of the NCAA Women’s Bowling Committee;
b. Record rules changes adopted by the committee and update the rules manuscript accordingly;
c. Adhere to publishing deadlines in submitting updated or new material for publications;
d. Ensure the technical accuracy of the rules in submitting them for publication and in proofreading the corrected version;
e. Facilitate production of finished artwork of diagrams or equipment that the committee wishes to include in the published rules;
f. Act as the official interpreter of the rules between meetings of the committee and reporting interpretations to the committee by email and on videoconferences;
g. Prepare the annual rules clinic presentations and rules video (virtually or in-person);
h. Develop and coordinate annual rules test for officials;
i. Produce rules-related content for the NCAA Central Hub on RefQuest (RQ+) website as necessary;
j. Assist in development of the survey(s) to be sent to coaches, officials, conference commissioners, etc.;
k. Prepare agenda for annual rules meetings;
l. Copy the NCAA staff liaison on rules interpretations given by email;
m. Participate in all videoconferences that deal with playing rules;
n. Attend the National Federation of State High School Associations' rules meeting, as requested;
o. Attend and present, as needed, at the National Tenpin Coaches Association convention and facilitate discussions on playing rules;
p. Maintain a national database of officials;
q. Work with NCAA staff and the committee on officials improvement program (recruitment, training, education, retention; if requested);
r. Develop tools for events to provide evaluations of officials throughout the season;
s. Assign officials for the national championship, confirm assignments with the committee and NCAA staff;
t. Attend the NCAA National Collegiate Women’s Bowling Championship to evaluate the officials and serve as the official rules interpreter of the committee;
u. Shall not be an active NCAA coach, official or conference coordinator/assignor (during the official term); and
v. Perform other duties as directed by the NCAA staff and/or the committee.
Preferred Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to relate effectively with officials and coaches on a national level.
Extensive knowledge of NCAA women’s bowling rules.
Strong administrative and organizational skills.
Ability to use email as a means of correspondence.
Ability to use computer technology as a means of education.
Experience in officiating or coaching at the collegiate level.
Cannot be an active NCAA coach, official or conference coordinator/assignor (during the official term).
