Wheaton College, an NCAA Division III institution located in Norton, Massachusetts, is looking for a motivated, energetic, passionate and caring individual to serve as the inaugural Head Coach of Men’s & Women’s Fencing. This individual will recruit, build and lead our newly created intercollegiate fencing program. The Head Coach will spend their initial year preparing for the program’s first ever season in 2024-25. Once the program is created, the Head Coach prepares the team for a full intercollegiate varsity season, including in-season and non-traditional practices, scouting of opponents and match preparation. Develop a recruiting plan and evaluate and identify qualified student-athletes. Prepare and manage operating, recruiting and fundraising budgets. Commitment to working and teaching within an environment that embraces the holistic development of the student-athlete. Serve in an administrative capacity as needed and directed by the Athletic Administration. Comply with all NCAA Division III, Conference and Wheaton College rules and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
2+ years of intercollegiate fencing assistant coaching experience (or equivalent experience within club coaching, national team coaching and/or interscholastic high school coaching within the sport of fencing). Bachelor’s Degree required. A valid driver’s license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of head coaching experience at the intercollegiate level (or equivalent head coaching experience within the sport of fencing). CPR/AED/First Aid certified preferred.
