The candidate will coach, supervise and develop a UnifiedSports Team(s). MassBay and Special Olympics are dedicated to promoting socialinclusion through shared sports training and competition experiences. UnifiedSports joins people with and without intellectual disabilities on the sameteam. It was inspired by a simple principle: training together and playingtogether is a quick path to friendship and understanding.
Team possibilities include basketball and Track & Field.This is dependent on student-athlete interest.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Plan,strategize and oversee all practices and scheduled contests to provide apositive and competitive experience for unified sports athletes;
- Develop arecruitment plan to identify and enroll unified sports athletes;
- Establish teamrules and protocols and implement appropriately;
- Foster thepersonal development and competitive spirit of the student athletes whilesupporting their educational experience;
- Emphasize andpromote academic progress, resulting in strong academic performance, retentionand graduation rates;
- Provide teamsupervision at all off campus competitions;
- Interpret andimplement the rules and regulations of the team, the department, and thecollege;
- Represent the collegeand team at all appropriate athletic events (e.g. competitions, conferences,and college sanctioned programs such as open houses);
- Assist withgame day set-up and breakdown;
- Perform otherduties as assigned.

- Engage with the Office of Diversity on issues related to underserved student success;

- Engage in conversations with colleagues and studentsregarding best practices within the discipline or programmatic related toequity and inclusion

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required;
- Experience in coaching at the college, high school, or youth level.
PreferredQualifications:

- Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
- Recruiting experience;
- Experience working with Special Olympics student athletes.

Salary Range: $5,000 per season
