About UT Southern
UT Southern is the newest campus to join the University of Tennessee System, evolving from UT's acquisition of Martin Methodist College in 2021. The Opportunity
The University of Tennessee Southern invites applications for a Vice Chancellor for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs.
The Vice Chancellor directs and oversees a broad range of programs across Student Life and Enrollment Management. Those in Student Life include, Residential Life, Student Activities, Intramural Sports, Student Organizations, Civic Engagement, New Student Orientation and First Year Experience, Student Development & Leadership, Counseling Services, Dining Services, Student Conduct, Title IX, Conferences and Summer Programs, and Student Government Association. In Enrollment Management, the new Vice Chancellor would oversee and provide leadership for the teams in Admissions and Financial Aid, creating a seamless student experience and transition into the university.
Serving as a member of the Leadership Council and reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Vice Chancellor establishes the strategic direction for all prospective student recruitment, new student enrollment, and the holistic support of all students during their time at the university. These efforts will be in direct support of the university's enrollment, retention, and graduation goals. To ensure a holistic approach to student success, the Vice Chancellor will work in close collaboration with Academic Affairs and university faculty, University Operations, and the broader UTS and Pulaski community.
The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provides leadership for all Student Affairs and Enrollment Management activities, initiatives, and outreach efforts including formulating, recommending, implementing, and evaluating all processes, policies, procedures, and programs
- Establishes and implements short-and-long-term planning efforts across Student Affairs and Enrollment Management to advance university goals
- Oversees a comprehensive, data-driven, and strategic enrollment planning effort so the university can enroll and retain students who are prepared for success. This includes guiding a talented team in Undergraduate Admissions as they: (1) build strong middle school and high school pipelines locally and regionally, (2) engage in robust recruitment and yield efforts, (3) leverage financial aid packaging to maximize student support, and (4) engage in timely communications and robust student services
- Leads the adoption, integration, and use of technology solutions and data systems to manage relationships with prospective students, applicants, and their families; oversees the automation and personalization of communications throughout the recruitment, yield, and student transition process; supports the teams who organizes and host recruitment and yield events aligned with admissions goals; ensures the timely facilitation of a holistic application management and review process
- Serves as liaison with Dining Services, ensuring a quality dining experience for UTS Students
- Ensures that teams across Student Affairs have the resources and tools needed to engage in proactive outreach, data-informed student support, holistic programming and wellness efforts, and other initiatives that drive student retention, persistence, and graduation
- Works with the teams in Student Affairs and Enrollment Management to develop and administer all budgets, including forecasting, planning, and monitoring of expenses, ensuring strong fiscal stewardship across all units
- Supports the university's planning and improvement processes by setting annual goals, establishing appropriate outcome assessment processes, and completing the annual performance review process
- Designs, proposes, establishes, and maintains a staffing and organizational structure to effectively accomplish all goals across units
- Recruits, employs, trains, supervises, and evaluates Student Affairs and Enrollment Management staff
- Articulates and advocates for both prospective students and families as well as current student needs and concerns to the University community
- Serves as an ombudsman for students within the university, guiding and advising them on how to resolve issues
- Acts as liaison to the academic divisions regarding enrollment and student issues
- Participates in professional organizations related to Student Affairs and Enrollment Management in higher education
- Is discrete and confidential about the activities of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
- Works directly with the Student Government Association to provide a connection between the students and the campus administration
- Completes other assignments as required by the annually defined objectives of UTS and the office of the Chancellor
