High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. College or continued education courses desirable. Three years coaching experience to include one year collegiate coaching experience preferred. Experience in public relations and fundraising desirable. Certification of American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators (AACCA) and United States Governing Body for Sport Cheering (USA Cheer) preferred. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification and First Aid certification preferred.

This is a .75, benefits eligible position, working 30 hours per week. Performs entry-level specialist duties for SHSU Spirit Programs. Works with the Cheerleading/Dance Teams and 'Sammy the Bearkat' mascot programs.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Performs entry-level specialist duties for the SHSU Spirit Programs. Assists in planning, developing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring programs and services. Assists in the development of policies and procedures. Coaches, directs, and manages student members of the Orange Pride Dance Team, Cheerleading Team, and 'Sammy the Bearkat' mascot program. Choreographs, monitors fitness and nutrition levels, monitors grade checks, and provides general supervision during practice sessions and performances. May contact high school and university officials and parents regarding recruiting students. May contact apparel vendors for maintaining team spirit wear. Duties performed will vary with the particular program, project, or area of expertise. Interprets policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.
