The Department of Communication Studies at Minnesota State University, Mankato seeks candidate for a Fixed-term Assistant Professor, Director of Forensics to provide leadership, manage, and support the Maverick Speech and Debate program.
A typical faculty workload responsibility may include up to twenty four (24) credits of instruction per academic year.
The successful candidate may need to teach in other areas as assigned and qualified.
May be expected to develop and deliver face-to-face, hybrid, and on-line instruction at the Mankato campus, online, and/or at the university's additional locations, as assigned.
The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues in curriculum design, instruction and evaluation, conduct research productively and mentor students in research, help create innovative strategies for student recruitment, retention, and completion, and may be expected to develop external grant funding opportunities.
All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, incontributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement)
This position will advise undergraduate majors.
This position will supervise/advise graduate students.
The successful candidate will support the Speech and Debate program and student growth by conducting coaching sessions, enforcing program policies and procedures, and supervising and providing yearly evaluations of graduate coaching assistants.
The successful candidate will coordinate tournament travel, including overseeing travel arrangements, providing regular media reports on students' accomplishments, and tracking student progress as it relates to national qualification procedures.
The successful candidate will prepare the program's budget requests, process all necessary requisition paperwork, keep detailed records of all program expenditures, and organize appropriate fundraising activities.
The successful candidate will oversee program logistics, including managing the allocation of talent grants and scholarship funds, directing a college speech tournament, and engaging in alumni outreach.
The successful candidate will serve as the primary recruiter of graduate students for the MFA in Forensics program and high school and current MNSU students for the Maverick Speech and Debate program.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her specialty.
The successful candidate is expected to participate in university and departmental activities.
The successful candidate will maintain an active record of scholarship.
Doctorate or terminal degree in Communication Studies or related field. (Conferred on a transcript and received in Human Resources by start date.)
