The Director of Athletic Diversity & Inclusion/Assistant Track and Field Coach is funded through the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship grant program. This position is a 2-year grant funded position reserved for Ethnic Minority and/or female candidates.
Diversity and Inclusion (40%) This position will oversee diversity and inclusion programming for the athletic department's student-athletes and staff. This position will be charged with creating a diversity recruitment strategy for the department. This individual will create, develop and implement an annual athletic department inclusion summit. The position will coordinate with our campus LGBTQIA+ Director to update/maintain our transgender student-athlete policies to make sure we are current and intentional in our inclusion efforts. Additionally, this individual will serve as the liaison to all Augsburg campus student organizations and international programs, as opportunities for partnership arise. Finally, the position will serve as a member of all full-time athletic hiring committees to bring an additional lens of inclusion to the hiring process.
Student-Athlete Enrichment (20%) This position will assist the Associate Athletic Director with the planning and execution of the department Auggie Compass program. Past Auggie Compass program topics include: First Year round table, time management, stress management, yoga, nutrition, Special Olympics, Ally training, Safe Space training, Green Dot, values and transferable skills, networking, resume writing and interviewing, and an alumni panel.
Assistant Track and Field Coach (40%) The position will be expected to assist the head coach in all aspects of running a successful sport program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, practice plan development, individual, small and large group instruction. They will be expected to attend practices and meets, travel with and supervise the team during away competitions, and assist in all areas of travel planning and organization as assigned. The assistant coach will also perform recruiting duties which include: contacting high school coaches and prospective student-athletes, setting up campus visits, researching potential recruits and working with recruiting software (Front Rush) to manage prospective student-athletes during the recruitment process.
Bachelor's degree required.
At least three (3) years of playing/coaching experience required.
Evenings, weekends and travel required.
Experience and/or passion for Diversity and Inclusion work
Knowledge and adherence to the MIAC Code of Ethics.
Follow MIAC and NCAA Division III guidelines and regulation, while exhibiting behavior that represents a positive image of the athletic program and the university.

Athletic recruiting experience preferred.
Candidates should have competitive playing and/or coaching experience at the college level or equivalent.
