POSITION: 100% time (40 hours per week), 10-month position at $15.72 per hour working in the Athletic Department starting on July 29, 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. Hours of work and days of week will vary. Some evening and weekend work required. Reports to the Athletic Director. Works within the framework of the entire athletic department under the general direction of the Athletic Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) Assist with event management/game operations. Responsible for creating and fostering an event management/game operations environment which enriches the Golden Eagle experience for student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and patrons with an emphasis on customer service and a quality atmosphere while emphasizing good sportsmanlike conduct and promoting the Golden Eagle Philosophy. 2) Assist in logistical and event management including; promotion and video production, social networking, live streaming and assist with athletic communications and marketing. 3) Assist in planning, staffing and managing NCAA, NSIC and High School championships as directed. Work with department, University, student and external clients to book and execute special events. Assist with day-to-day operations of the event management/game operations unit within Intercollegiate Athletics. a. Hiring, training, scheduling, disciplining of student workers and staff working in event management/game operations. Coordination of the Golden Eagle event schedule to verify accuracy for public and internal release. Assist with event management/game operations coverage of all Golden Eagle athletic events ensuring the efficient operation of all events. g. Assist with the scheduling process for Intercollegiate Athletics. Assist in developing short and long-term goals for event management/game operations. 3) Assist with the operations of the UMC Wellness Center, focused in intramurals and scheduling the facility. Oversee student interns for intramural sports and organize training for student intramural officials. Direct effective scheduling of wellness center with a diverse offering of sports to meet the needs of a diverse student population. Oversee intramural budget for all programming. 4) Assist in scheduling athletic facilities including Lysaker Gymnasium, Weight Room, Turf Room, and Wellness Center. 5) Adhere to the rules and regulations of the University, the Northern Sun Conference, and the NCAA; commits to reporting any NSIC or NCAA violations involving the University of Minnesota, Crookston to departmental compliance personnel. 6) Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 0-1 years of relevant work experience, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years, ability to apply knowledge and skill to a recurring task or activity with emphasis typically on precision and timeliness of execution, and ability to work evenings and weekends. Final job offer contingent upon receipt of official transcripts, complete background check, and verification of authorization to work in the United States at the University of Minnesota.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills, personal commitment to integrity of the athletic program and the concept of the student-athlete, knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations and basic computer skills, and previous experience working in a NCAA II athletic program.
