Under the direction of the Head Coach and in accordance with all NCAA, NSIC Conference, Minn State System and Minnesota State University, Mankato rules and regulations, this position will assist the head coach in all phases of a Division II Track & Field/Cross Country program, specializing in coaching men's distance events (cross country & track and field) and one or more of the following events: pole vault, high jump, javelin, and multi-events. This position's primary responsibility will be to teach technical aspects of the events coached and assist with recruitment of prospective student-athletes including, but not limited to, official and unofficial visits, electronic correspondence, and on the road recruiting. This position will serve as the recruiting coordinator for Men's and Women's Cross Country team and throwing events. This position will also assist with college/high school home meet management and monitoring student-athlete academic progress. Other work related duties as assigned by Head Coach.
Bachelor's Degree. (Conferred on an official transcript at the time of application.)
Minimum of three years of collegiate coaching experience.
Experience in coaching distance events (cross country & track and field) and one or more of the following events: pole vault, high jump, javelin, and multi-events.
Knowledge of sport-specific fundamentals, techniques, and safety rules and regulations for the distance/cross country: pole vault, high jump, javelin, and multi-events.
Demonstrated experience with analyzing, interpreting, communicating, and adhering to University, NSIC and NCAA policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Excellent communication (oral & written), planning, organizational, interpersonal, interviewing, strength training and counseling skills.
Experience with recruitment on a national level, instruct and motivate student-athletes on sport fundamentals, techniques and safety rules and regulations and provide academic and personal mentoring.
Established recruiting networks in the Midwest.
Personal computer and related software skills.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.
Five years of collegiate coaching experience
Ability to coach two or more of the additional events (pole vault, high jump, javelin, and multi-events)
Ability to influence and build positive relationships among diverse individuals including, student-athletes, parents, coaches, media, faculty, staff, students and general public.
