Dean College seeks an experienced, motivated and innovative professional to join the Office of Admissions. The exact title will be based upon level of experience. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Admissions, this professional will oversee the planning and implementation of on-campus recruitment events and will also serve as a recruiter and territory manager in the Office of Admissions. Additional responsibilities may include: supervising and training admissions counselors; providing oversight for the Student Ambassador (tour guide) program and the program coordinator; contributing to transfer recruitment and admissions; and coordinating the custom visit program.
Planning and implementing recruitment travel in a defined territory;
Conducting student interviews and evaluating perspective students;
Reviewing applications for admission;
Contacting prospective students and applicants using all methods available including phone, email, texting and social media;
Representing Dean College at college fairs, high school visits and other recruitment events;
Counseling students through the application process and facilitating questions related to the college's academic, social, cultural, financial, and athletic programs;
Coordinating admissions-related activities, processes and procedures;
Providing admission presentations to campus visitors and varying constituent groups;
Completing routine reports related to recruitment, projections, personal schedule, travel, special programs;
Overseeing the planning and implementation of on-campus recruitment events, including open houses, accepted student events, preview days and Saturday visit days. Working closely with the Executive Director of Admissions and the Director of Events to ensure successful events throughout the calendar year;
Planning and executing school counselor events on- and off-campus;
Assisting the Executive Director of Admissions with communication planning and execution specific to on- and off-campus events;
Additional responsibilities may include: Training and supervising Admissions Counselors. Contributing to transfer recruitment and admissions strategy. Reviewing a portion of transfer candidates for admission. Coordinating the custom visit program;
Other duties as assigned.
4+ years of admissions experience, including event planning experience;
Self-starter with strong analytical skills, an attention to detail, and a proven track record of successfully meeting enrollment goals;
Experience working with various offices across campus;
Works effectively with ethnic, culturally and socially diverse students, staff, faculty and administrators;
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain strong organization;
Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills;
Takes initiative and works independently with successful outcomes;
Strong professional knowledge and experience with the ability to train and mentor admissions counseling staff;
Evening and weekend work will be required, including recruitment travel which is heaviest in September, October, November, March and April;
Flexibility, a desire to be a team player and a sense of humor will be keys to success in this position.
