The Scholastic Supervisor is responsible for managing the tutorial program in the Nye Academic Center, including hiring, training, scheduling appointments, and payroll. Also, will provide assistance in the academic progress of an assigned caseload of student-athletes including one-on-one academic support and teaching learning strategies.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of experience in academic advising at collegiate, high school, or junior college level, or athletic administration experience working with student-athletes at those same levels.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
General knowledge of NCAA rules.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements or Other Factors:
Work flexible, non-traditional hours including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to complete assigned duties. Occasional travel required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Masterâ™s degree in Higher Education, Education, Educational Psychology, or Sport Management.
Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive and applicable knowledge of NCAA rules, specifically rules related to academic progress and eligibility.
Assists with recruitment, hiring, and training all subject tutors. Assists with scheduling tutoring appointments and managing payroll.
Assists with initial testing and review of student-athlete skill levels. Provides academic skill instruction to student-athletes with learning disabilities and/or low skill levels. Conducts one-on-one academic meetings with a caseload of students, teaches learning strategies, and addresses academic needs. Prepares summary reports and updates for academic advisors and the Associate Athletic Director for Academics. Acts as a resource and provides training as needed for staff and coaches in the areas of learning development, learning strategies, and identification of learning disabilities.
Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations for all staff members and student workers supervised.
Performs other duties as assigned.
