The Manager of Learning Center Services is responsible for managing the Learning Center and overseeing the learning initiatives for student-athletes. This includes managing assigned staff and overseeing the Academic Mentor Program, Tutorial Program and Reading Program. Also will provide academic support to an assigned caseload of student-athletes with diagnosed learning disabilities.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five years of athletics academic advising at collegiate, high school, or junior college level, or athletic administration experience working with student-athletes at those same levels.
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
General knowledge of NCAA rules.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Other Requirements or Other Factors
Work flexible, non-traditional hours including some evenings, weekends, and holidays to complete assigned duties.
Occasional travel required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Higher Education, Education, Educational Psychology, or Sport Management.
Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive and applicable knowledge of NCAA rules, specifically rules related to academic progress and eligibility.
Oversee Learning Center: Oversees the learning centers for the Academic Mentor Program, Tutorial Program, Reading Program, and Texas Success Initiative.
Academic Case Load: Provides academic support to assigned caseload of student athletes with diagnosed learning disabilities and/or accommodation needs.
Management of Assigned Staff: Supervises the Tutor Coordinator, Learning Specialists, Reading Specialists, and part-time staff members.
Committees: Serve on staff, departmental, and university committees as assigned. Serves on unitâ™s Leadership Team.
Compliance: Maintains continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations. Establishes and ensures communication and enforcement of rules and regulations for all staff members and student workers supervised.
Performs other duties as assigned.
