Job Summary: JOB SUMMARY: SVSU is looking for a dedicated, determined, passionate individual to inspire next year's class of students. Individuals will engage prospective students and their families in one-on-one meetings, present to large groups, host counselor update meetings and more. This position will be based in Grand Rapids or surrounding area and should be familiar with Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon Counties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Represent SVSU to prospective students and their families in West Michigan (including Kent, Ottawa, Muskegon, Grand Traverse and surrounding counties).
Schedule individual high school visits and attend college day/night programs throughout the year. Occasional travel outside of regional territory and out of state.
Present to groups of students/parents/counselors/community members about SVSU and higher education opportunities.
Join and participate in regional admission and community organizations and coordinate SVSU participation at local events (ie. Local College Access Networks, Grand Rapids Decision Day, etc.)
Conduct telerecruiting activities with students to encourage enrollment. Coordinate follow-up communication with these students throughout the year.
Collaborate with the Alumni Relations Office to increase involvement of SVSU alumni to support awareness and recruitment efforts in West Michigan.
Other duties as assigned by the Director.
RELATED DUTIES: Participate in occasional on-campus admission events (ie. Open House, Cardinal College Days, Scholarship Recognition Programs).
Accurately enter all necessary data into an electronic contact management system to produce a weekly log of inquiries and direct student follow-up through phone and email channels.
Work closely with the other admission representatives when organizing recruiting visits and handling work-related expenses.
Submit appropriate weekly reports in a timely manner to the Director of Admissions.
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of SVSU academic programs and offerings.
Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree required.
Valid Michigan driver's license.
Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to address large groups of students and/or adults.
Ability to work independently while engaging as a member of the Admissions team.
Ability to plan and organize a multifaceted personal and team workload.
Demonstrate high level of initiative, enthusiasm and perseverance.
Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings, weekends and statewide travel.
Ability to load and transport admissions materials, displays and other equipment.
Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Experience in college admissions or with high school audiences is preferred.
Additional Information: Annual Salary: $34,000
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Supervision is provided by the Director of Admissions
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May be responsible for the supervision and coordination of work for student employees.
