The instructional design position reports to the Director of Center for Academic Innovation and Online Learning. The person in this position provides knowledge and creativity in enhancing the use of Open Education Resources in the development and design of hybrid and online courses; hands-on, full-service instructional design support for faculty developing hybrid and online courses, and develops and facilitates trainings for faculty related to hybrid and online course design and facilitation. This is a full-time grant funded and project based position.
Assist faculty with the adoption of Open Education Resources (OERs) and emerging learning tools which capitalize on OER content
Collaborate with librarians and assist faculty with finding, adapting, curating and integrating high quality OER content.
Consult with faculty as they review and transform curricula into online courses
Direct course and program design projects through their implementation, delivery, and assessment.
Align assessment and evaluation strategies with educational standards and systems such as Quality Matters.
Work collaboratively with related campus offices to plan, develop, and offer workshops and programs.
Develop, design, communicate, and research best practices and solutions for instructional design.
Keeps current with research pertaining to online higher education, pedagogy, andragogy, and pertinent learning theories.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in related field required.
Demonstrated understanding of instructional design, including universal design.
Demonstrated experience evaluating Open Education Resources, with an understanding of the key criteria that should be used in the process.
Considerable working knowledge of copyright and intellectual property standards for educational materials
Master's degree in instructional design, education, education technology or related field and at least two years' experience in higher education strongly preferred.
Experience developing learning outcomes and finding appropriate materials that align with specific outcomes
Extensive experience with Learning Management Systems (Canvas experience a plus)
Extensive technology toolbox of e-learning content development and assessment creation�software
Instructional consulting experience and/or experience working in a faculty center
Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
Effective teamwork, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills
Knowledge of academic structures and values
Ability to work with instructors from a wide range of academic cultures and disciplines; experience with Open Educational Resources (OER)
Knowledge of theories of learning and educational research
