The part-time Assistant Swimming Coach is responsible for assisting the head coach in all aspects of the William Smith College swimming and diving program. The Assistant Swimming Coach will conduct practices and implement training plans under the direction of the head coach. The Assistant Coach will assess student-athletes in practice and competition and provide analysis to the head coach and student-athletes.
Assist in the teaching and supervision of student-athletes on the William Smith swimming and diving team.
Demonstrate competency in sport skill instruction, motivation, and the ability to conduct practice sessions under the direction of the head coach.
Assist with recruiting prospective student-athletes under the direction of the head coach.
Assist with home meet pool setup and tear down.
Adhere to all sport governing, departmental, and institutional rules and policies.
Demonstrate a sincere interest in the personal, academic and athletic progress of student-athletes.
Exhibit supportive and cooperative behavior pursuing sport program goals set by the head coach.
Demonstrate leadership ability and professional behavior when dealing with student-athletes.
Efficiently and effectively complete tasks assigned by the head coach.
Accept constructive criticism and work toward consistent professional improvement.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent required. Candidate must have experience as a competitive athlete or coach at the high school, club or collegiate level. Competitive swimming and/or coaching experience preferred. Must hold a current CPR/First Aid certification. Valid US driver's license required.
This is a part-time, six (6) month, non-benefits-eligible, administrative position. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned.
